What happens when you try to generate photos of office workers at the beach? Find out in this week's edition of AI Outtakes!

Every time I sit down to write a new one of these, I think about numbers. I mean, as a startup founder I am always thinking about numbers; how much cash is in the bank, what's my monthly revenue, can I afford to make that hire, etc.

But this little newsletter that started as a way to amuse myself while generating images for Orchestra AI 's customers is now on its 8th edition with almost 300 subscribers. I keep hearing from people that it's the highlight of their week and that makes me so, so happy.
On to the prompts!
This week I was working with a founder to help them get their marketing message across. Their existing material focused on product features, but after talking I proposed a set of materials that focus entirely on the customer pain point.
In this case the target customers are leaders at professional services firms. These firms are always concerned about staff utilization. Are their staff who are uncovered? Are some overbooked?
If you've worked in a firm like this you might be familiar with the term 'on the beach'. It's slang for time that can't be billed - so your team might as well be on the beach, as the metaphor goes. I love metaphor when building marketing materials so I decided to explore this one - can AI generate photos of businesspeople having fun while others are overworked?
Ooooooh boy can it.

Ok, that last image is probably good enough to use. Let's see if we can get other visuals of office workers at the beach.

I definitely notice that AI defaults 'office worker' to a man, so let's see if we can fix that.

Okay, we've gotten some good results for the workers on the beach. What about the other side? What about our poor staffer who's booked 340% for the next twelve weeks?

Why should it just be one overworked staffer? Maybe AI will do better with multiple people.

TBH the stressed out folks make me sad. Let's check back in on our staff who are underutilized!

As much as I giggle when generative AI barfs up another royal blue suit, let's see if we can get some variety.
